OVERVIEW

Sunwealth offices are located in Cambridge’s Porter Square and New York City’s Financial District.

The Senior Manager of Project Development will be responsible for Sunwealth’s West Region. This role represents a significant leadership function within Sunwealth’s growing Project Development team, as this person will be tasked with growing and leading a team of developers to manage Sunwealth’s existing pipeline, while exploring opportunities to expand that pipeline rapidly in the coming years. This person will serve as the focal point for critical relationships in the western region and be responsible for increasing the quantity of those relationships. The Senior Manager will also serve as a leader within Sunwealth, potentially playing a role on one of the many internal committees, such as the technical committee, underwriting committee, or other based on the selected candidate’s interests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development

  • Develop new relationships leading to new projects and partnerships in Sunwealth’s west region
  • Play a critical role in identifying new opportunities; act as a first filter for Sunwealth in establishing strong partnerships, complete the initial screening of new project or partner opportunities, and thoughtfully delegate those opportunities as needed
  • Open up new markets, working closely with policy, marketing, legal and asset management to establish the preliminary framework for how we operate in those new markets
  • Manage sophisticated relationships / partnerships

Team Leadership

  • Lead a growing team of project developers in the West region by setting and managing clear objectives
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, problem solving wisdom, and expert guidance as needed to enable team members to advance in their roles & succeed in the development of their projects
  • Set and support team culture of growth and ownership while promoting a culture of learning and fun

Project Development

  • Develop projects from time-to-time, as needed, given project complexity, new partner sophistication, or new market integration
  • Serve as subject matter expert for all phases of project development
  • Serve as Sunwealth’s project development expert in Western Region state markets as it relates to the development considerations specific to those markets, particularly in California

Research and Development

  • Lead and initiate research of emerging solar markets in the west region as new opportunities present themselves so that Sunwealth can continue to efficiently evaluate new project and market opportunities.
  • Support ongoing evolution of Sunwealth systems, processes, and tools, including financial models, Salesforce.com, Asana, and others
  • Serve as a thought leader regarding Sunwealth’s ever-changing market strategy and position

DESIRED TRAITS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience of successful business development, particularly in the solar industry
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get done what is needed
  • Experience managing people
  • Proficiency with all MS Office programs, particularly Excel; Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Strong internal and external communication skills and an ability to manage multiple issues, clearly articulating concerns, solutions, and outcomes
  • Team player who recognizes learning opportunities and can flex to fill different roles in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Quick learner with strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills
