Job Title: Associate Solar Developer

Davis Hill Development (DHD) is seeking a Solar Developer to join our development team, working out of our Nashville, TN office. This position is an opportunity to join a high-growth and dynamic company in the fast-paced renewable energy industry. The ideal applicant will be a hardworking, ambitious, self-motivated, and creative problem solver who can help target and develop solar power projects in multiple geographies.

As a Solar Developer at DHD Solar, you will play a key role in developing and executing community solar and utility-scale solar power projects. You will work closely with the Development Manager and cross-functional teams, providing support throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial site assessment to construction ready. This position requires strong project management capabilities, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

The Solar Development Associate will support the DHD development team, and will report directly to the Development Manager.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Development Manager in all aspects of the development process, including securing interconnection agreements, local land use permits, conducting due diligence, and coordinating with various stakeholders including but not limited to landowners, local and ISO-level utilities, and all government agencies.

With the support of our geospatial engineers, evaluate potential solar project sites by conducting site assessments, analyzing environmental factors, and assessing technical and economic feasibility.

Coordinate the design and engineering of solar energy systems with DHD’s Construction Management and third-party engineers

Manage project contracts, negotiate agreements, and engage with suppliers as needed, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project development.

Coordinate interconnection and utility interactions, including managing the process of obtaining formal interconnection agreements and managing system performance requirements.

Research County, Municipality, and State regulations, bylaws, and ordinances and coordinate materials required for permit submittals

Develop project schedules and budgets, to ensure development milestones are met and accurate reporting is kept

Understand and document electric utility tariffs, state and local permitting regulations, including but not limited to State, County and Municipal land use policies surrounding renewable energy projects and utility-scale projects, trends for and against renewable energy siting, and specific zoning considerations related to renewable energy development and siting.

Stay up to date with solar policies in DHD active and speculative markets, industry trends, technological advancements, and policy changes related to solar energy development and apply this knowledge to project planning and implementation.

Support business development efforts by participating in proposal development, client presentations, and fostering relationships with potential partners and clients.

Work collaboratively and demonstrate a high level of diplomacy with internal and external teams to develop project schedules, budgets, and financial models to ensure project viability.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, development, renewable energy, or a related field.

1-3 years of experience in renewable energy development, real estate, construction, project management, or a related field (Solar experience preferred)

Experience with permitting, land development and/or interconnection of renewable energy (or related field)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to proactively and effectively collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients.

Proficient in project management methodologies, tools, and software to ensure efficient project planning, execution, and monitoring.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and ensure that we are “checking all of the boxes” to ensure success project outcomes..

Strong problem-solving abilities to identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies and alternative solutions in a fast-paced environment...

Knowledge of renewable energy policies, incentives, and financial models, is a plus.
