Davis Hill Development is a fast-growing renewable energy development company with a focus on commercial and community solar power projects. We have developed over 150 solar systems over the past few years, and own and operate these assets. Our projects range from residential rooftop solar on low-income housing, parking lot carports for public schools, to ground mount solar on farms or landfills. We work with a range of clients including leading commercial real estate companies, municipalities, other government entities, and landowners. DHD is a subsidiary of Skyview Ventures, a clean technology investment company. Skyview is one of the largest merchants of renewable energy credits and has investments in a portfolio of technology companies providing innovative solutions. DHD is the development arm of Skyview and is tasked with developing pilot or demonstration projects for a number of these innovative technologies.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Davis Hill Development (DHD) in our pursuit to power independence across the United States. As a Solar Project Developer, you'll play a pivotal role in our dynamic team, driving the growth of our community solar and battery storage development pipeline.

This position is based in a field office, with significant travel requirements, and offers:

Applicants should be self-starters with a strong sense of personal accountability and demonstrated history of professional success in outward-facing roles centered around relationship building and project management. As a Solar Project Developer, you'll engage with landowners, ranging from individuals to corporations, educating them on the project development process and securing partnerships through lease and purchase agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Solar Project Developer, you'll be responsible for contributing to early-stage greenfield land acquisition in the Midwest and Northeast regions. Working closely with our GIS team, you'll identify and secure optimal sites for solar development, cultivating a pipeline of viable, competitive projects. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Origination.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing relationships and closing contracts with large private landowners and farmers, as well as Electric Utility companies.
  • Following up on both warm and cold leads from DHD’s proprietary GIS-based lead origination approach - Our GIS platform will identify sites and buildings and their contacts, but not always provide warm leads
  • Making initial contact with landowners and keeping a thorough record of all communications and project details.
  • Evaluating sites for development viability, including identifying environmental hurdles, permitting pathways, and offtake strategies.
  • Educating landowners on the development process, and value of solar and/or battery storage projects.
  • Creating meaningful proposals for landowners that align with their needs and goals.
  • Engaging with community members (which may include door knocking) around our target sites to ensure support for our proposed projects
  • Making first contact with local permitting authorities and utilities to discuss project viability.
  • Identify and engage with local large electricity users who may be subscribers to our community solar projects.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

  • Experience originating or developing renewable energy projects or real estate projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a 'closer' mentality while upholding ethical standards in all interactions.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience, with a keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on being personable and authentic.
  • Proficiency in CRM software or data management tools is advantageous.
  • Passion for renewable energy is a plus
