About Skyview

Skyview Ventures (“Skyview”) is currently investing our its second fund, Skyview Ventures Fund II (SV2), to invest in early-stage companies working to decarbonize our energy and transportation infrastructure. Skyview Ventures is an investor that transacts, advises, and invests in renewable energy and carbon reduction markets. Our investments fall along four themes: environmental commodities; solar project finance, development, and ownership; electric vehicle infrastructure; and early-stage startups. Since Skyview’s initial venture investment in 2011, we have invested in 27 climate tech startups from our own balance sheet and from our first two funds and have realized three exits to date. Skyview is a differentiated venture capital firm in that we are primarily operators in various clean tech businesses and can leverage these businesses to be more successful venture investors. In addition to working with numerous external resources, this position will leverage Skyview’s various business units and internal resources to support the overall objectives of SV2.

Venture Capital and Operations Associate

Skyview is looking for a summer intern in a top MBA program, or relevant Masters/PhD candidate, to support the Principal and Partners of Skyview Ventures in identifying companies, performing due diligence, and supporting our portfolio companies. In addition, the Intern will support Skyview Ventures operating needs across its Environmental Attributes, Solar Development, and EV Charging Businesses. The Intern will report directly to the Principal. The position will be located in Greenwich, CT.

Responsibilities

Market Research

• Research technology progress, regulatory updates, industry trends, etc.
• Support Principal in conducting newsletters for current and prospective LPs
• Perform primary research with key customers of our potential investments

Deal Sourcing

• Collaborate on research efforts to proactively identify new investment opportunities
• Support data aggregation and deal pipeline CRM management

Due Diligence

• Assist in management, customer, and vendor interviews
• Validate market and value proposition for company’s product or services
• Identify and analyze competition
• Engage with technology experts to confirm product validity and performance
• Generate detailed investment memos

Deal Closing

• Support deal closing process, including document review, and deal structuring
• Support cap tables

Portfolio Company Management

• Track and communicate company updates
• Update internal memos
• Assist in operational governance and insights
• Support in organizing CEO events for our portfolio companies

Requirements

• MBA Candidate, or relevant Masters/PhD Candidate, at a top school
• 40 hours per week
• 3-4 years of investment and/or industry experience
• Demonstrates experience in Clean Energy, Clean Tech, and Renewables
• Strong analytical capability
• Extremely self-motivated
• Ability to draft credible investment memos and investor presentations
• Experience with cash flow models and valuing investments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
